The importance of Dental Hygiene appointments

During these unprecedented times, more than ever, looking after your health is paramount. We have been inundated with news daily about the stark reality for many, the chaos in the NHS and the personal tragedies faced by many globally. We here at Ham Dental Practice will continue to navigate through these times as best as we can and we will endeavour to prioritise safety for our staff and patients.

Dr Victoria Sampson conducted a study which states that covid-19 patients with gum disease are 4.5 times more likely to need a ventilator and 3.5 times more likely to be sent to ICU and 9 times more likely to die. A report on this study can be found on the following link:

Naturally, this news is worrying for the dental industry and for those with this condition and just highlights the need to keep our oral health at it’s best and to take certain preventative steps that will lower the risks of getting certain diagnosis.
We are still open and taking appointments – please feel free to call in or to email the practice during the week with any dental enquiries.
